When the temperature and leaves start to fall and big sweaters and bean boots replace shorts and sandals- many opportunities for family fun and activities arise. Nature becomes a family activity in itself, with the beauty of changing color of leaves, pumpkins and pine cones. I have 5 must-do activities for fall that your kids will love!
- Make Leaf Piles
When leaves start to cover your yard, have your kids help you out while raking. Make huge piles of leaves and let your kids jump in them. They will love this activity and the family will have a ton of laughs and fun, all while cleaning the yard. Don’t forget your camera! This is also a great opportunity to take adorable fall pictures of the kids for memories.
- Have a Scavenger Hunt
Go outside and choose items to search for- whether pine cones, red leaves, acorns, etc. Have a scavenger hunt! The kids will have so much fun with this game, and you can also have them guess which tree everything was from. This is a great way to exercise competition, family bonding and fun!
- Go Apple Picking
Go to your local apple orchard and go apple picking. While exploring the beauty of the orchard and letting your kids help pick- you will supply healthy, fresh apples to your household.
- Head to a Local Cider Mill
One of my favorite activities to do with the family is visit a local cider mill. Not only do you get to taste the delicious treats of donuts and cider, but visit animals, try a corn maze, capture perfect fall memories to hang around the house with pumpkins, hay and beautiful fall colors. A corn maze will also help your kids utilize their problem-solving skills while enjoying themselves!
- Go to a Farmer’s Market
Another way to explore the colorful seasonal items of Autumn, head to a local farmer’s market and pick out a few decorations for you doorstep- flowers, scarecrows, pumpkins, hay. Pick up fresh fruit and vegetables for future meals, too!
