The Thanksgiving holiday is all about appreciating what we have and showing thanks for those who love us. As much as it’s important to remind ourselves why we celebrate, it’s important to teach your kiddos too. Unfortunately, sometimes Thanksgiving is adored for its food and then it’s off to Christmas caroling and hanging up lights. So how do we teach our kiddos how to give thanks at least once a year? Family traditions! Family traditions are a great way to express your thankfulness to your family every year. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite Thanksgiving family traditions you can start with your families this year.
Thankful Jar: Throughout the year, designate a jar that you and your family can write down moments or people for whom they are thankful. Collect these until Thanksgiving and read them all as a family and look back on all of the things to be grateful for.
Table Talk: At dinner, go around the table and take turns saying why you are thankful for each member of the family. It is a great way to make your family members feel loved and appreciated.
Thankful Pumpkin: Pumpkins are not only for Halloween! Paint your pumpkin a cream or metallic gold. Have each family member write what they are thankful for with a sharpie. The different handwriting and thoughts make the pumpkin so unique and special.
Thanksgiving is a special time we share with our loved ones. Traditions or no traditions, spending time with your family is always a good time. What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving family traditions? Leave your comments below!
