There’s nothing more difficult than keeping your kids entertained while you’re busy. Those big puppy dog eyes begging for you to come to play are impossible to resist sometimes! As much as you might want to give in, you remember the millions of things you have to do. Of course, you don’t want to ignore your kiddos but you have to take care of your responsibilities, too. We’ve come up with some great tips for keeping your kids entertained when you need it most – guilt free!
Arts and Crafts
There are few things in this world that kiddos love more than coloring books! Luckily there are so many cheap art projects that your kiddos will love. Head to your nearest craft store or even grocery store and stock up on some of their favorites. When you’re both done, you’ll have completed all your work and gotten a new decoration for the fridge.
Here’s a trick: pick out a movie that your kid will enjoy, and sit on the couch next to them as they watch. It’s a great way to keep an eye on your kiddos while getting work done. Plus, they’ll be so into the movie they won’t even realize you have your laptop and paperwork out.
If you’re looking for some fun in the sun, the pool is a great way to spend your day! This is a great way to get a few quick breaks. You may not get work done at the pool, but you can relax and spend quality time with your kids. And when you get back home, they’ll be so exhausted they’ll nap for hours – which is when your work time kicks in!
You’re definitely not the only mom in the neighborhood with this dilemma! Find other parents with kids the same age as yours and make plans to swap play dates. You’ll take care of her kid while she does work and vice versa. It’ll leave you and your kids happy.
In today’s day and age, kids are learning how to use technology before they can speak. While you may not want to introduce technology too early, a little screen time won’t hurt. Hand them your iPad or tablet with downloaded applications and they’ll be able to stay silent and distracted. There are plenty of fun games as well as educational ones, so make sure you get a mix of both. This is perfect for a quick phone call or meeting!
Finding a balance between work and your family can be tough, yet it is definitely doable. Learn to schedule play time as if it were work time to make sure everything is organized and fits in. Remember that family is your number one priority, but work is unfortunately high on the list there as well. What are of your favorite tips to keep your kids entertained? Leave your comments below!
