There’s no doubt that as parents keeping surplus energy is no easy feat. There never seems to be enough! There’s never enough energy, time, or anything in between. With young kiddos, it can seem impossible to keep up our energy and be the best parents we can be. Here are some tips to help guide you along to keep up those energy levels and enjoy life, even on your busiest days!
Get Dressed
I know how easy it is to just lounge around in your PJs, chunky sweaters, and fuzzy socks. Your energy is at an all-time low when you’re stuck at home all day. Not to mention the fear of having someone stop by! Hop in the shower for a few minutes, throw on some comfy jeans and a top, a cut necklace. Top it off with some mascara and lipstick and you’re ready for the day in 20 minutes! You’ll feel better and have an instant energy boost.
Eat Breakfast
Breakfast seems like a second thought most mornings. Especially if you’re extremely low on time getting out of the door and getting your family out of the house on time! But by starting your day off with a nutritious breakfast makes a world of a difference. Leave the house with extra energy with a quick breakfast. Whether it’s a smoothie or a protein packed breakfast, say hello to more energy in the mornings!
Exercise With Your Kids
Some extra movement will not only make you sleep better, but it will give you tons more energy and help you feel better throughout the day! Try something as simple as 100 jumping jacks or talking a walk around the block. You can even set up a mini-course in your backyard! This will get both you and your kids moving. Not only is it healthy but it’s a quick solution for that afternoon slump!
Afternoon Snack
Ok, who’s with me? How many times are you about to start dinner or in the process of getting dinner ready and you’re starving!? Rummaging through the cabinets to find a good snack, end up making a not so great choice and spoiling your appetite? We’ve all been there. Try grabbing a snack in the afternoon and you’ll feel tons more energized and won’t be so hungry when dinner rolls around!
Make a To-Do List
There’s nothing more dreadful than a day full of millions of chores, tasks, and feeling like there’s never enough time in the day. That’s enough to suck up all the energy in your day as it is! Make the time the night before to make a to-do list for tomorrow. Make sure to prioritize your list with the most important things to the least important. That way you’re ready for the next day and have a little more pep in your step throughout the day!
Find a Relaxing Hobby
As parents, it’s no surprise we rarely find time to do things for ourselves. But finding time for yourself is a huge step towards gaining more daily energy! Try painting, knitting, or just diving into your favorite book. Even just a few minutes a day to yourself makes a huge difference in your attitude and motivation to getting stuff done during the day.
No Screens at Bedtime
Who’s guilty of getting in bed and spending an hour catching up on your Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feeds? Welcome to the club! As much as we understand the struggle of finding time during the day to do this, bedtime is not the time to do so! Your body will get much better sleep if you turn off all screens – that means TV, too! Dedicate some time to read a book, magazine, or meditating before getting ready to go to bed.
Excess energy may seem like a luxury, but it can be a possibility for parents everywhere. Spending some time on yourself, getting a good nights sleep, and sneaking in evening activities during the day can all help keep you energized and happy!
