Summer is in full blast and boy is it hot! Here in Texas, it feels like cruel and unusual punishment having to spend the day outside. But if I have to spend one more day seeing my kiddos play video games all day or playing on tablets I’m going to go crazy. So what’s there left to do when we’re tired of going to the pool? Besides family crafts, I LOVE to spend time playing water games! Here are 3 water games that will cool you guys down while having a blast.
1. Car Wash
Everybody loves watching car washes. So why not create one in your backyard? Set-up might take a while, but if you do it right, it can last all summer. You’ll need PVC pipe or something similar to create the base and form. From there, the possibilities are endless. Turn on your sprinkler to have a constant flow of water source, but try and emulate the functions of a typical wash!
2. Kickball
Regular kickball is tons of fun, but add some kidding pools and slides and you’re in for a good time! Grab a foam ball and soak it in water before each person is up to kick. Instead of bases, have each kiddie pool be the first, second, and third bases. Your kiddos will have to stand in them while they’re on the bases (if you want to add more to this, have them complete a task while waiting). Then, to go home, lay out a water slide. Home-runs don’t count unless they slide!
3. Water Limbo
This is the easiest, as no set-up is required. All you need is a water hose! This is just like regular limbo, but with water. If it’s not quite scorching outside, or no one wants to get that wet, this is the perfect option. Have an adult be the hose moderator and adjust the height during each round. The lower the hose, the more the child is bound to get wet. Have a bit of fun with it! Add another hose, or switch up the rules! There is a lot of creativity available with this game!
No matter how you spend your summer days, spending it with your family is sure to be a great time. What are some of your favorite water games to play in the summer? Leave your comments below!
