Halloween is such a fun time. Full of trick-or-treaters, adorable costumes and tummy aches from too much sugar. Believe it or not, right around Halloween is when my kiddos start getting really bored really quick. So instead of trying to find a fun craft for them to do, why not combine one of my favorite hobbies with theirs? Cupcake decorating is so much fun for the whole family. I get to relax and de-stress and my kiddos get to make a big mess. Here’s a cupcake decorating tutorial for some spooky creatures, just in time for Halloween.
Hairy Monster Cupcakes
To fill up the cupcake with fur, you work slowly from the outside and work to the center. You squeeze out the frosting and pull it up. Mix short hair with longer hair. I didn’t apply a mouth on my monsters, but feel free to add one to yours!
First, pipe out the grass. You don’t need to frost any grass in the center where your pumpkin will sit. You can either pipe out a pumpkin yourself or use one of those pumpkin candies. Whatever you prefer!
These were my absolute favorite. You’ve probably seen meringue ghosts sitting on top of cupcakes – too much work, thank you! The great thing about ghosts is that you don’t have to add any food coloring to the mix. Super easy! Make them as big or small as you want!
And finally, mummies. Super simple cupcake with no food coloring needed. Try to practice your zig-zagging to get the hang of it first. It can be a little tricky. But, still a very easy design. Drag your piping bag back and forth to make it look as flat as possible.
