Will Ferrell stars as Brad Taggart, a mild-mannered everyman whose only goal in life is to be a good stepdad to his wife Sarah’s two kids. Just when he thinks he’s finally won them over, Sarah’s super cool ex-husband and the biological father of her children, Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg), comes on the scene determined to usurp Brad’s standing as the favorite dad. Now, the two polar-opposites are engaged in a quickly escalating competition in order to win the hearts of the family they both love. Opens December 25. Rated PG
Norm of the North
A polar bear, Norm and his lemming friends travel to New York City to stop a developer from building condos in the Arctic in this animated comedy. Opens January 15. Rated PG
The Good Dinosaur
In this enchanting computer-animated fantasy, set in a world where the dinosaurs never went extinct, an amiable young Apatosaurus named Arlo loses his father in a storm and is swept away by a vicious river current, stranding him in a frightening new place far from his home. He soon embarks on a journey to reunite with his family, and befriends a prehistoric human child known as Spot along the way. Released. Rated PG
Kung Fu Panda 3
Jack Black returns as the voice of lovable panda Po in the third adventure in the animated series. Opens January 29. Rated PG
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip
When Dave introduces Alvin, Theodore and Simon to his new girlfriend Samantha and her troublemaking son Miles, the chipmunks begin to panic at the thought of Dave proposing to Sam while on a trip to Miami. Fearing that they will be sent back to the forest, the three decide to head to Florida to stop the proposal. Luckily, Miles is not thrilled with the idea of a stepfather so he decides to accompany them on their zany road trip. Released. Rated PG
