By Marie Elaina Gordon
The series begins with an adult, Jeremy, reminiscing what life was like when he was a little boy. Visiting his grand-mother, because his parents worked. Grand-Mom Jenny and Little Sprout, one of the names she affectionately calls her grand-son, have fun conversations. Conversations which are both enjoyable and educational. Little Sprout learns expressions, vocabulary, old jobs, history, and just how wonderful life was when he visited Grand-Mom! Book one concludes with Grand-Mom leaving for vacation, and Jeremy joining her in two weeks for fun ‘down the shore’.
Where did the series come from?
As Marie Gordon enjoyed a cup of coffee with her mother, her mother exclaimed, “It’s raining cats and dogs!” Marie asked her mother the origin of that expression, and her mother could not come up with the answer. Marie then realized that is a great subject matter for children’s books! She gave her mother a pen and some paper, and told her to start writing expressions. It was then the short story series “My Grand-Mom Told Me” was born.
