Is it just me or has the jack-o-lantern had a face lift recently? Painted pumpkins, dressed up pumpkins, even decoupaged pumpkins! Long gone are the days merely carving a face and toasting the seeds. New and creative ways to decorate pumpkins are popping up all over the place.
Here are some fun no-carve strategies to spruce up your pumpkins for Halloween this year.
- Use your pumpkin as storage
Pumpkins can be used as a bowl for drinks or to hold candles and flowers. A colorful bouquet will look charming popping out of a festive squash.
- Paint it
Why not paint your pumpkin? The options are limitless. Create a funky piece of artwork or stencil on your house number for display.
Use stamps and stencils to assist in painting your pumpkin. Lace doilies act as stencils to create some very cool designs.
- Bedazzle it
Make a fashionable pumpkin. You can use brass thumbtacks to make a picture or follow this tutorial to make a glittered pumpkin.
- Bundle it up
Decoupage, yarn, ribbons, lace tights, washi tape—get inventive and dress your pumpkin up in something sassy and decorative. You could even dress it up in a costume: wrap your pumpkin in toilet paper so it looks like a mummy!
