October is coming up which means our grocery stores and doorsteps will be decorated in pumpkins. While the traditional carving with your kids can be fun, why not spice your pumpkin decorating skills with melted crayons? This craft is so easy and fun for the whole family!
Follow these steps for the most colorful and envied pumpkins:
You will need a pumpkin, trash bags or newspapers, white paint, crayons, hot glue, and a hair dryer.
Step 1: Pick out a pumpkin. You can use any size pumpkin you like, but make sure the top around the stem is flat enough for crayons to lay on.
Step 2: Set up a craft zone using trash bags or newspapers to avoid getting crayon wax everywhere.
Step 3: Paint the pumpkin white or a solid color of your choice. This helps the wax stand out on the pumpkin. It may take a few coats to completely cover. Let the pumpkin completely dry until moving forward to the next step.
Step 4: Break the desired crayon colors in half and hot glue them in a circle around the stem of the pumpkin. If you have boxes of your child’s old broken crayons, this is a great way to get rid of them! If you are doing this craft with little ones, you may need to handle the hot glue gun.
Step 5: Using the hair dryer, heat the crayons until they start to melt down the pumpkin. Continue to do this until the wax has completely melted.
Step 6: Let the wax dry on your pumpkin.
This melted crayon pumpkin craft is so easy and so fun. Your kids will love getting a little messy and creating a colorful pumpkin to show off!
