A Parent’s Guide to a Smooth Morning
Mornings are stressful. The kids need to get to school and you need to get to work on time and somehow unexpected obstacles always seem to show up. Here are some tips to make mornings a little less rough and a little more effective.
3 Steps for a Smooth Morning
- Preparation is key: Anything and everything that can be prepared the night before should be. Backpacks by the door packed and ready to go, clothes laid out for each of the children, keys and other daily must haves laid in their spot so that they are easy to grab on your way out.
- Have a routine: Everything will run smoother if your children know what happens and in which order. For example, breakfast always comes after getting dressed and brushing teeth always comes after breakfast.
- Go to bed and get up in time: Make sure both you and the kids get enough sleep to be functional in the morning. Also, if you’re always running late and on the verge of a mental breakdown try waking up earlier to give yourself more time to sort out the morning madness. This will also give you some wiggle room for those unexpected obstacles that pop up here and there.
Stay positive and you will beat the morning madness. It always works out in the end and if not there is always tomorrow! A smooth morning is closer than it feels!
