A weekly cleaning schedule can be a total wash. It can keep you totally and completely occupied all day long. It can be almost impossible to find time to catch up on your favorite show, enjoy some alone time with your little ones or even get a minute to yourself. There’s gotta be a better way, right? We’ve been working on a simple routine that you can implement every week to keep your weekly cleaning time to a minimum.
Monday
Monday’s are for mopping! The weekends can cause a ton of mess and chaos, so Monday is the best day to give your floor some serious love. Mopping up the dog’s messy paw prints to cleaning up crumbs throughout the house is a great way to start off the week! If you don’t have enough time to get everything one day, try to tackle the common areas, hallways, and staircases.
Tuesday
Next up we have the bathrooms. Definitely not the most glamorous part of your week, but it needs to get done, unfortunately. Grab your best pair of gloves and scrub brushes and scrub your toilets, bathtubs, and showers, and don’t forget shower curtains too! If you have time try to switch out towels, shake out bathmats and make sure you have enough toiletries to last the week.
Wednesday
Wednesdays are best for surface cleaning. If it has a wipeable surface, it’s on your list today! A good place to start is appliances, counters, tabletops, fans, and mirrors. If you have time try to dust off the TVs, shelves, and windowsills, too!
Thursday
Today is your day to de-clutter. Every week tons of trash and junk pile up and end up sitting there for days. Take today to organize your house and take out the trash! Try to organize junk mail drawers, newspapers and magazines, food, and go through any old clothes you might not want anymore. Less is always more!
Friday
Friday is for all things foldable. So that means today is a serious laundry day. All the clothes piling up in the laundry room can seem so overwhelming to take care of day to day, but dedicating one day a week to laundry can be a lifesaver. So today get all of your dirty laundry washed, dried and folded or hung up. If you have time try to wash sheets, blankets, and towels, too!
Saturday
The weekend is finally here! After working hard all week, you absolutely deserve some time off. Instead of dedicating another couple hours to keeping up with the house, try to reserve half an hour to clean up the house. The good news is you don’t have to do it alone. Round up the whole crew and tidy up the house. Quick and easy!
Sunday
Before you know it Sunday is here and you get to start a whole new week worth of cleaning. Take Sunday to enjoy time with your family, friends, or just yourself. Today is a day that is free of cleaning and take some time to celebrate that!
Just because you want a clean house doesn’t mean you have to spend hours vacuuming, moping and dusting every day. By breaking it up little by little you’ll feel less overwhelmed and more accomplished by the end of the day. What are some of your weekly cleaning routines? Leave your comments below!
