From parents to kiddos, Netflix is becoming a household staple that we can’t live without. We are a cable-free home and I love how much streaming offers – there’s something for everyone and things we can all enjoy as a family. But what I really love about Netflix is how many options they have for education opportunities. Yep, you read that right. Using Netflix for education is something every parent should take advantage of. Netflix is just as great for education as it is for entertainment! Here are our top tips for why you should be using Netflix for education.
- It’s no surprise how exciting and popular Netflix is. No matter what we’re trying to teach our kiddos, they’re always more willing to listen to anyone besides us. So if there are any life lessons you’re trying to teach your kiddos, look up some content to show them. There are so many options ranging from manners to life and love!
- If you’re looking for education relevant content or things that might relate to their coursework, check out Netflix documentaries. There are tons and TONS of historical resources on Netflix. Learning through media is 100 times more interesting than reading about it in a book. Not only is this an easy way for a history lesson, but it’s also super fun, too!
- One of my favorite benefits of Netflix is the fact that there’s so much foreign content out there. Foreign films and TV can provide an opportunity to learn a new language or just learn something new. Your kiddos can learn about food, geography and the language of countries thousands of miles away.
- Last but not least, parental controls. Netflix is 100% on top of restricting access to mature content. From your account page, you can create profiles for each family member. Then you can set restrictions throughout those profiles that only you can change. Sounds like a win-win to me!
So, besides all the benefits Netflix offers, you get to control everything your kiddos watch. What’s better than that? How do you use Netflix for education? Let us know in the comments below!
